Special horses for special athletes!!!

Peruvian Paso horses are famous for "brio" - a blend of energy, enthusiasm, strength & willingness to perform over many miles.

The combined demeanor & effortless gait of the PP lends a healing aspect to riders who may be unable to engage in alternative forms of exercise.

For over a decade, both children & adults have enjoyed recreational horse therapy at Bellissima Farms.

The "horse helping man" approach works to improve muscle tone, balance, flexibility & strength as well as patience, confidence & self-esteem. The human body responds to the action of the walking horse by balancing w/ multiple muscle groups, delivering a total body workout.

Riders often demonstrate an increase in self-esteem, confidence & communications skills - as well as the obvious improvements w balance, strength & coordination.

The participants success translates to a more positive attitude, thus extending therapeutic benefits.

Achievements of horseback boost self-confidence & encourage the rider to make attempts at other challenges in life.

Rewards of equine therapy are as numerous as the variety of conditions addressed.

   multiple sclerosismuscular dystrophy     ADD/ADHD
   childhood obesitycerebral palsy     downs syndrome
   amputees           accident recovery               autism
CVA/brain injury         motor skills         emotional issues

To insure safety of participants, volunteers are finger-printed w/ background checks.
